Why are you having an AA event way down there?
The question is ¨Why Not¨? Well actually, sobriety has taken me on a very interesting journey which led me here to Costa Rica. One of the things I deeply miss about my life in the big city of Vancouver where I used to live, was the gay fellowship of AA. So, it seemed logical to have a big meeting here.
What is the intineray?
Here is a rough idea of a daily intinerary.
- Coffee Meeting on the beach at 7am.
- Breakfast at 8-8:30
- Tour leaves at 9:30
- Tour Returns at 1:30 - 2pm
- Afternoon workshop/Topic Meeting
- Dinner at 6:30 pm
- Candlelight Meeting at 8pm
Please note that this schedule may change slightly to accomodate unforseen circumstances. It is our plan to provide 4 tours for the group while they are here. Tours have not been finalized as of yet, but here is what we are working on.
Coral Reef Snorkeling, Cauhita National Park, Waterfall/Indigenous Tour, Guided Jungle Hike, Local Beach Tour and possible Limon Public Market Tour.
Check-in begins on Sunday evening. Monday Morning Meeting will open with Special Guest Speaker Jim B who hales from Vancouver. San Francisco & Puerta Vallarta. Official closing is Friday evening with check out on Saturday morning.
What are the accomodations like?
There is a full photo tour of rooms here. All rooms have private bath and large furnsihed deck space. Prices are based on sharing room with one other person. Particpants wanting their own room are requested to stay at nearby hotel just down the road about 100 meters. Please add $150 surcharge to rate to cover off cost for single room.
What if I want to come early or stay longer?
Well, coming to Banana Azul earlier might be a problem as we are booked for a wedding for the 2 days prior to the soberfest. Bute we could find you accomdation close by or make other suggestions of travel in area. As for staying on past the event... that should not be a problem.
What are the meals like?
Meals will be hearty and wholesome with local fruits, veges and meats. If you have special dietary needs, please let us know and we will try and have the kitcehn accomdate you. Please note that specialty foods in this area are very hard to get, so you might have to bring your own.
